Fabrication Technologies is coming to an end as the semester is almost over. I have learnt alot this semester, including how to use Rhinoceros for digital modelling, the constraints and opportunities of using fiberglass and a little more in management of a group. Overall a great subject with many new skills learnt.

‘The Road Less Ridden’ is an exciting proposal to increase the use of the Ultimo area, by provided a cycle network, plus additional programmes to enhance activity in the area. These programmes will be located with cycle stations in currently vacant or unused spaces in Ultimo. Additional programmes could include local green grocer and bakery in residential areas, art studios and exhibitions near museums and in residential areas, multimedia centre at ABC.

This library proposal challenges the idea of a traditional library, broken down into levels and packed with shelves of books. A new library that is open and relaxed, providing cafes, internet and media based research and is not enslaved to the typical methods of breaking up space.

In my last semester of my undergraduate degree (Spring 2008) I travelled to Thailand as part of an elective titled ‘Construction in Developing Communities’. While over there, we built houses as volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, our particular house was for a man named ‘Kong’ who had a wife and three children, but not his own home.
