bar noodle 1

Situated on a site in Sussex Street that is 5 metres by 6 metres, the proposal was to bring the city into that space. Based on a series of mapping exercises of the city, the design provides a space for viewing the city.

A series of blades protrude from the ground, with platforms cantilevered for people to congregate on and enjoy a beer or noodles. The points of the blades are connected at the top by a series of beams which is then closed off by glass or solid elements depending on views in and out of the site.

Screens projecting to both the blades in the site and the buildings around the site show video footage of what is happening in other parts of the city by linked up cameras, while also providing the option for people to screen movies that they have produced.

Overall, the site becomes a place to view the rest of the city from by footage, while also being a performance and viewing space for what is happening within the site.
